Baltic Sea Getaway

I can't lie ... I love cities. Late night reveling, world class museums, thousands of bakeries, restaurants & bars, excellent public transportation, bustle, hustle, you name it.  But even this city girl needs a break from the gritty once in a while and that's when we hop in our car and head north - for the Baltic Sea Coast ...
My family has a place right on the water and all of us have access to it. We just use a sign-up system, pass on the keys and boom, it's yours, baby!

One thing I love about the Baltic Coast are these cute little Strandkörbe.  Translated into English it means "beach baskets" and that's exactly what they are. You can sit cozily inside either to block costal winds, snooze in the shade or simply to read your favorite bookUnlock the gate, pull the foot rests out and you are in bizniz!
My husband has been coming up here since he was tiny & now my son knows it too

One thing ya gotta eat on the Baltic are Fischbrötchen - sandwiches filled with fish, onions and different sauces. My favorite is smoked salmon: YUMORAMA!
Family getaways in summer are extra special because they're quite rare once Fall is in full swing. My husband's travel schedule becomes super busy and he's all over the place. Last night he mentioned a new project in Mongolia. Mongolia?
But thats all happening later. As Eckhart Tolle writes
"Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make NOW the primary focus of your life."
ps: unclear as to what I was thinking when I purchased these sunglasses...

  3. Beautiful pictures. It's so lovely that your young son is now enjoying a place that your husband did as a child. I know many of my happiest childhood memories were the trips to a family friends house on the Devon coast that my dad would surprise us with, telling my mum on Friday morning to have us all packed by 5pm, ha ha.
