Just in - Gucci's Fall 2011 runway is apparently very Helmet Newton inspired
Nothing makes me happier then Helmet Newton. I'm a huge fan and have spent several afternoons wandering through his foundation and gallery here in Berlin.
Below is a bit on Berlin for the Helmet enthusiast and a video I made in '08 thats got "Helmet love" & me with a short bob haircut! oh, and my 2 best friends - who you might remember from Madrid)

Berlin offers two glorious stops for Helmut Newton fans and connoisseurs of Eighties fashion photography: The Helmut Newton Foundation featuring his controversial yet iconic photographs and the Newton Bar where you can drink one of the best martinis in town, surrounded by his “Big Nude” series. It’s no secret the Eighties have influenced a number of trends this season, and while many conclude it was a cringe-worthy time for fashion – crimped hair, neon- I’ve been incredibly inspired by Newton’s photographs. They capture the decadence of the decade: Brigitte Nielsen standing poolside in Monte Carlo wearing only stilettos, a raw and defiant Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor’s decollete swimming in million-dollar jewels.
Think: deep red lips, patent leather Louboutin’s, diamond anklets and monocle’s. The highy stylized world of Newton’s photography is a treasure trove.
Newton was born in Berlin in 1920 but fled the city as an 18-year-old Jew, fearing the Nazi’s rise to power. Today his photographs are housed only steps away from the train station where he began his journey into exile. From the mouths of many Berliners: “Helmut Newton has come home”.
