I thought about how to compose this post without sounding nuts but then I realized it was impossible. I'm nuts! Nuts about Ryan Gosling. Especially nuts about Ryan Gosling's hair. Speaking of, while at the movies last week I saw the trailer for 'Crazy, Stupid Love' (yes I'll totally see that when it opens in Deutschland)
and thought MY GAWD THAT'S AN AMAZEBALLS HAIRCUT!
I love how it transitions from short to long (but not too long) on top. Its face framing, classic, not trying to hard. A real mans cut.

A few days after I saw the trailer, my husband mentioned he needed a new haircut before an upcoming work trip. I casually (gotta be casual otherwise they'll think you're trying to change them) mentioned this haircut & referenced a photo.

LO AND BEHOLD the next day he returned from the barber with this cut and it looks fabulous! I wanted to photograph it - but again, I had to appear casual and slightly disinterested. I think it looks fresh, masculine & took about 10 years off.
ATTENTION MEN:
1. print out this photo (everyone appreciates visual cues!)
2. visit a well trained barber
3. make sure you get the fade from very short in the back to just a bit longer on top.
4. when styling, part your hair on the side & gel your bangs over to the side.
5. Make sure your sideburns aren't too thick as this ruins the look. Have your barber thin them out if necessary.

ReplyDeleteYeah, you DEFINITELY need to see "Crazy Stupid Love" when you get a chance. Saw it here in the states for free with a preview ticket and I was seriously surprised by it. Also, I didn't really know anything about Ryan Gosling until it. Suffice to say, now I do. Oy. So sexy.

ReplyDelete@anon: absolutely I think this would look great with slightly balding temples! the short to long cut always gives the impression of having more hair up top then you really do.

@fouiner I think you could work this haircut but you need to have your eyebrows shaped a little as they are too thick. I know it sounds weird, but just go to a salon and ask them to clean your brows up a little bit. not massive shaping! just a tidy up. the reason I say this is that the haircut is polished and classic and the eyebrows need to be groomed as well.

I have this cut but not sure if I have the correct wax or whatever it is I'm using. Plus I think il have to tell the lady cutter "shorter at the back please"
